Two years ago, plans were in the works for a large day long magic auction. Then COVID came along. Well, those plans are being revived!
IBM Rings 49 and 235 are jointly inviting you to join us Saturday May 14, 2022 for a day long auction in Ancaster. The items up for auction will be available for viewing from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, with the auction commencing at 10:30 am through to about 3:00 pm with a break for lunch over the course of the day.
If there are any of your club’s members who wish to place something into the auction, they are more than welcome to do so. We have included information in the attached letter along with an auction sheet that must accompany the items they wish to place in the auction.
Please pass this email and attachments along to your club members so they can come out to enjoy the day.
Please bring CASH to buy items since this is the only currency we will take. No Exceptions.
If you wish to sell items, please complete the auction sheet attached.
Please read below for full information:
On Saturday May 14th come and join Rings 49 and 235 as they present a day long auction. The auction will be held in the gymnasium of Ryerson United Church, 265 Wilson Street East in Ancaster. There is a large parking lot at the back of the church and the access to the gymnasium is off this parking lot.
Schedule for the day:
9:30 am to 10:30 am
The doors will open for people to bring any items they wish to place into the auction and or to view the items being auctioned off.
10:30 am to 3:00 pm
The auction will begin with a break for lunch. The clubs will not be supplying food or beverages, but there are several restaurants with takeout services available very close to the church.
If you wish to put something into the auction:
Along with this document you will see an auction sheet. Please complete this sheet(s) listing what you are putting into the auction and a reserve bid if there is one. Please bring two (2) copies of this document. One copy will be for the Auctioneer and the other will be for the financial tracking team on the day.
Without exception, we will not be accepting items into the auction without this document.
You are allowed a maximum of 10 items. An item would consist of a single article, a lot of multiple objects or any combination of these so long as the total number of items does not exceed 10.
When an item or lot is sold, 10% of the sale price will be retained by Rings 49 and 235 to cover off the costs of the day.
The auction will be on a purely cash basis. We will not be accepting other forms of payment.
COVID precautions:
At the time of writing this document, COVID restrictions have been lifted.
If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask during the event, please do so. Your personal comfort and safety are important to us.
Obviously should the COVID rules change come auction day we will follow the Regional and Provincial guidelines.
Good Afternoon Ring49 members and fellow magicians:
We will be having our meeting on December 14, 2021 at 630pm at the Symposium Cafe in Ancaster.
Please bring some close-up / restaurant magic to perform. You are welcome to order a drink or food while at the restaurant.
The executive will decide where the meetings will be held in the New Year and will advise the members.
Hope to see you there on Tuesday.

Good Evening Ring49 Members and fellow magicians:
For the next few months, we will be having our informal Ring 49 meetings at: Symposium Cafe, 1146 Wilson St W, Ancaster Ontario.
They will be held as usual on the second Tuesday of the month. I would suggest that people can come by as early as 630 pm. You can choose to eat dinner or just order a beverage. It would be obviously customary to order something since we are using the facilities for our meeting. The place did not appear to be noisy, and there was plenty of room on a Tuesday for our members. The theme would be restaurant magic, what makes good magic to perform in a restaurant setting. Please bring some magic to perform and/or to discuss to make it an enjoyable evening.
Please remember that you will need to follow restaurant protocols for Covid-19.
If you have not paid your membership fees and will be attending next week, please bring $20 cash and I will collect on Tuesday.
There has always been plenty of room at the restaurant so we are hoping for an enjoyable evening.
Thank you,
Victor Staniewski
Ring 49 Treasurer
Hello everyone.
I hope everyone had a great summer. Although we all had to experience an unusual year with the pandemic issues, we still managed to put forth an excellent lineup of virtual lectures and meetings on Zoom last year. Fortunately, things seem to be getting better with the vaccinations, however, with the current protocols in place we will need to start our meetings virtually this year, at least for the first few months. Also, since The Binkley Church has closed, we currently do not have a location for our in-person
meetings yet.
The executive has booked some virtual lectures to start the year and we are working on filling in the rest of the months. It is difficult to plan the 2022 months as we are uncertain if these will be in-person or virtual.
Below is a listing of our Executive for the new year, and our tentative line up of meetings.
2021 – 2022 Executive
Past President Scott Hood
President Doug Hunt
Vice-President Corey O’Shaughnessy
Treasurer Victor Staniewski
Social/Coffee Scott Hood
If anyone is interested in joining the executive, we are more than happy to have you assist as there are roles that you would be able to take on.
Membership Fees
The fees for the year will remain at the discounted price of $20 for the 2021/2022 year. The reduction in membership fees will continue this year since several the meetings will be virtual on Zoom. The membership fee can be paid by E-transfer and email to magicvictor@live.com, or mail the cheque payable to Doug Henning Magic Wand Club:

The September lecture will feature Chip Romano who will be doing a Doug Henning night. Chip has been a collector of Doug Henning magic and will be showing and explaining many of the items that he holds.
The October lecture will feature Old Jeff Pinsky from Browser’s Den of Magic, who will provide a dealer’s demo on some of the newer magic at the shop. In addition, Young Jeff will be performing magic tricks for our club.
Meeting Schedule and Activities 2021 – 2022
We are trying to provide a good variety of events for our meetings. Below is the tentative schedule for the year. As noted above there will be no meetings in person for the first three meetings in 2021. These meetings will be done on Zoom and we will send an email with instructions prior to the meetings.
