Good Afternoon Friends & Members of The Doug Henning, Magic Wand Club:
Next Tuesday will be our 1st meeting & season opener for the club. To start the night off, we will have a “Teaching Table Session” at 7pm & our first instructor will be Scott Hood (just back from his Baltic Cruise). We are hoping to make this a regular monthly teaching event with various presenters.
The Executive has agreed that due to 3 paid lecturers last season, & declining club enrolment over the past few years, our annual membership fees effective immediately will be increased to $45. for regular membership & $40. for seniors (65 +). That works out to $4.50 per meeting or the cost of a specialty coffee at Starbucks! This will hopefully stabilize our treasury to at least cover our operating costs & bring us into a surplus position to enable us to consider future lectures as they become available.
Next week’s September meeting will be an all members night discussing how you spent your summer vacation, & the various conventions that you may have attended & demonstrating new tricks acquired. (IBM/SAM, Abbott’s, Magic Live, Kidabara, Buffalo Magic Expo). Even if you did not get a chance to participate in one or more conventions this year, we are all interested in how you spent your vacation or your stay-cation and if you learned a new trick or two.
Aside from your cheque book for your annual dues, (yes, our treasurer will accept cash payment), please bring along some extra change (Loonies & Toonies) for our 50/50 draw & our coffee table.
Hope to see you all back next Tuesday September 13th. Doors open at 6:30 for Registration & our meeting begins at 7PM sharp.
